Erich Zimmermann was born in 1958 in Augsberg, Germany. He concluded his silversmith apprenticeship in 1983, and was recognized as a Master Silversmith in 1990. He travels to India and China at regular intervals in search of precious and semi-precious stones. In his Augsberg atelier, with a small team of master silversmiths, each stone is then set in rings, pendants and earrings using Zimmermann's unique method of stone-setting. His work has won him several awards internationally, including, most recently, Town & Country magazine's 2007 Couture Design Award. He has had many solo exhibitions including a 2001 exhibition at the Crafts Museum of Dresden, and a 2005 exhibition at the Linde Meyer Gallery in Philadelphia. unique piece
